The basic principle of all great coffee centers around five variables:

  1. The quantity coffee, usually measured in grams
  2. The quantity of water, also measured in grams
  3. The temperature of the water
  4. The grind of the coffee
  5. The amount of time that the coffee and water are together

While this process of making coffee can become extremely complex, great coffee can be made with a few simple steps and inexpensive tools.
